BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the BJP-led central governments inaction on corruption allegations against the Congress government in Telangana. According to a statement from the BRS PRO, KTR demanded to know why no investigation has been initiated by central agencies like the CBI or ED.
Referring to Shah’s earlier comments in Nizamabad—where he had dubbed the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government an “ATM” for the party’s high command—KTR asked why the Home Minister had not followed through on his own accusations. He alleged that there might be a hidden alliance between the BJP and Congress, accusing them of pretending to be opponents in Delhi while cooperating secretly in Telangana. “Is the BJP shielding Revanth Reddy because it fears facing BRS alone?” he questioned.
KTR also pointed out that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier accused the Congress of a RR Tax scam in the state, yet no formal probe was launched. He slammed the Centre for making empty allegations during political visits but failing to act, saying this sends the wrong message to the public. The BRS leader criticized the alleged political targeting of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, which he said had been crucial in transforming Telangana into India’s leading rice producer. He called the defamation campaign against the project a politically motivated move.
On the BJP’s contribution to Telanganas development, KTR said that despite the state having eight BJP MPs and two Union Ministers, no major national project had been sanctioned. He pointed out the absence of any central institutes like IITs, IIMs, or major medical colleges in the state, calling it a sign of the Centre’s neglect. He also mocked the repeated launches of the Turmeric Board, highlighting that Union Minister Piyush Goyal had already virtually inaugurated it earlier in the year, and that no budget had been allocated or permanent office building approved. “Amit Shah is now cutting ribbons for an office built by former CM KCR,” he noted sarcastically.
KTR further accused the BJP of betraying Telangana on multiple fronts, including cancelling the Bayyaram Steel Plant meant to provide tribal employment, scrapping the ITIR project for Hyderabad, supporting Andhra Pradesh’s Banakacharla project at the expense of Telangana farmers, and privatizing Kazipet Coach Factory—thus limiting job opportunities for youth in Warangal. He concluded by saying that ever since coming to power, the BJP has treated Telangana unfairly, and asserted that the people of the state have already rejected the party—and will continue to do so.
