An Indian professional based in Dubai has applauded the UAE’s handling of the situation after Iranian missiles targeted the country on Saturday, February 28. Tushar Gagerna said authorities acted swiftly, kept passengers informed, provided complimentary food and water, and even issued emergency visas immediately after reports of the attacks emerged.
Gagerna was already seated on a flight bound for Delhi when the incident occurred. After remaining inside the aircraft for over two hours, passengers were instructed to disembark. His flight, scheduled for 1 PM, had boarded on time, but by 3 PM, everyone was asked to leave the plane following news of the strike. Sharing his experience on LinkedIn, he described the tense atmosphere as travelers checked updates and tried to make sense of the unfolding events.
Despite the uncertainty, he noted that there was no disorder. Instead, UAE authorities responded promptly and methodically. A designated waiting area was arranged for affected passengers, and refreshments were distributed. According to Gagerna, the gesture went beyond hospitality, reflecting reassurance and care during a stressful moment. He highlighted what he considered the most significant step: officials began granting emergency visas on the spot to travelers who had no plans to remain in the country. In the midst of a geopolitical crisis, with airspace closures and grounded flights, he said the UAE ensured transit passengers were legally protected and accommodated.
Describing the response as calm, organised, and clearly communicated, Gagerna contrasted it with what he believed might have happened elsewhere, where passengers could have been left without guidance. Instead, he said, the UAE prioritised order and compassion. He concluded that a nation’s true strength lies not only in infrastructure, wealth, or tax-free income, but in how it reacts under pressure. Calling the experience a defining example of leadership, he said he felt fortunate to live in Dubai, expressing gratitude and pride while waiting safely for his rescheduled flight.
