In a chilling act of family betrayal, two brothers in Ghaziabad allegedly orchestrated the murder of their retired Indian Air Force father after he asked them to vacate their shared home. The incident, which unfolded in Lonis Ashok Vihar Colony on December 26, 2025, has led to swift police action, exposing a web of greed and hired hitmen.
Yogesh Kumar, 58, a Baghpat native and recent retiree, grew frustrated with his sons Nitesh and Guddus refusal to move out of the family property. Planning to sell the house and access his savings, Yogeshs eviction demand sparked fury, prompting the brothers to plot his elimination for a reported Rs 5 lakh payout. Neighbors described Yogesh as a disciplined veteran whose spending habits had long irked his family, setting the stage for this deadly rift.
The assailants were Arvind Kumar, 32—a neighbor with a grim past including a juvenile role in the 2008 Barari massacre—and Naveen, a Kaushambi police constable. They ambushed Yogesh on a motorcycle, shooting him twice and bludgeoning him with an iron rod before escaping. Arvinds confession cracked the case, yielding a country-made pistol, cartridges, and the pipe as evidence.
Ghaziabad Police, under ACP Siddhartha Gautam, invoked Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 103(1) for murder and Arms Act charges. Arvind remains in 14-day judicial custody, but Nitesh, Guddu, and Naveen are absconding amid ongoing raids. This case highlights surging property-linked familicides in India, urging families to prioritize wills and mediation to avert tragedy.
