External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday extended greetings to Italy on the occasion of its National Day and reiterated Indias commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the European nation. In a message shared on social media, Jaishankar conveyed his best wishes to Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, as well as to the government and people of Italy. He highlighted the steady progress in bilateral relations and expressed confidence in the continued growth of cooperation between the two countries.
The ministers message comes amid expanding engagement between India and Italy across key sectors, including trade, defense, technology, clean energy, innovation, and infrastructure development. Relations between New Delhi and Rome have witnessed significant momentum in recent years, supported by regular high-level exchanges and increased diplomatic cooperation.
India and Italy elevated their ties to a strategic partnership framework in recent years, paving the way for deeper collaboration on regional and global issues. Both countries have also worked closely in areas such as economic development, sustainable growth, supply chain resilience, and emerging technologies. Italy remains an important partner for India within Europe, while growing business and investment links continue to strengthen economic relations. Bilateral trade has shown consistent growth, with companies from both nations exploring new opportunities in manufacturing, renewable energy, mobility, and digital innovation.
The exchange of National Day greetings reflects the strong diplomatic relations shared by the two countries and underscores their mutual interest in further expanding cooperation in the years ahead. Italy celebrates its National Day, also known as Festa della Repubblica, on June 2 each year, commemorating the 1946 referendum that led to the establishment of the Italian Republic. As India continues to deepen its engagement with European partners, the growing partnership with Italy is expected to play an increasingly important role in advancing shared economic and strategic interests.
