Delhi on High Alert as CJP Plans Flag March; Over 32,000 Security Personnel Deployed

Delhi is on high alert on Friday as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) prepares to hold its ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ flag march at Connaught Place, with more than 32,000 security personnel reportedly mobilised across the capital. Police are considering allowing a limited number of participants to conduct a flag march at an alternative location amid restrictions on large gatherings. The proposed demonstration has been organised by CJP founder and convenor Abhijeet Dipke, who has called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The group had announced plans to assemble at Central Park in Connaught Place at 5 pm.
Authorities have stepped up security arrangements to prevent unauthorised gatherings and maintain law and order in the busy commercial district. Barricades, surveillance measures and additional personnel are being deployed to manage crowds and minimise disruption. According to reports, around 6,000 Delhi Police personnel are expected to be stationed in and around Connaught Place and central Delhi, while approximately 26,000 Central Armed Police Forces personnel are being deployed across the capital.
Police have not approved a large gathering at the proposed venue. However, officials are considering permitting a small group of demonstrators to conduct a flag march at an alternative location, subject to applicable conditions and security arrangements. The New Delhi Municipal Council has also announced that Central Park in Connaught Place will remain closed to the public on October 16 and 17. The closure comes as authorities prepare for the proposed demonstration and seek to avoid disruption in the surrounding area.
The matter has also drawn judicial attention following concerns about the potential impact of the gathering on traders, street vendors and other businesses in Connaught Place. Authorities have indicated that appropriate legal action may be taken if restrictions are violated. The proposed march comes amid wider political debates over electoral processes and demands for accountability from election authorities. The CJP demonstration is intended to bring the groups demands into the public spotlight.
Residents and commuters have been advised to check official traffic updates before travelling through central Delhi, particularly around Connaught Place. Security checks, barricades and possible traffic diversions may affect movement in the area. Authorities are continuing preparations to ensure public safety and maintain order as the situation develops. Disclaimer: This image is taken from PTI.
