BJP Chief Nitin Nabin appoints election observers and in-charges for upcoming polls in several states.

Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday announced the appointment of election observers and in-charges for upcoming elections in several states. Taking charge at a critical time, Nabin is leading the party’s preparations for the forthcoming polls in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Assam, and Kerala.
For the Kerala Assembly elections, BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde has been named election in-charge, with Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje appointed as co-in-charge. Tawde has also been assigned the additional role of Election Observer for the Chandigarh Mayor election, which will be conducted through open voting. The mayoral election must be completed before January 29, 2026, as the current term ends on that date. The 2026 mayoral term will be the final term of the existing municipal corporation and is reserved for the general category.
In the Greater Bengaluru Corporation elections, former national general secretary Ram Madhav has been appointed election in-charge, while former Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia and Maharashtra MLA Sanjay Upadhyay will serve as co-in-charges. For the Telangana Municipal and Corporation elections, Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar has been named election in-charge, with former Rajasthan state president Ashok Parnami and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma appointed as co-in-charges.
Nitin Nabin assumed office as the 12th and youngest national president of the BJP after being elected unopposed. He is scheduled to chair his first office bearers’ meeting on Wednesday at the party headquarters in New Delhi, where discussions will focus on election strategy, party programmes, organisational strengthening, and key initiatives.
