BJP, AAP MLAs Among Six Injured After Car Crashes Into SUV in Delhi

An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Delhi and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Karnataka were among six people injured after a car crashed into an SUV near ITO in central Delhi on Sunday night. The accident occurred near the Public Works Department (PWD) headquarters on Vikas Marg at around 9:30 pm, according to preliminary information from Delhi Police.

The SUV was carrying AAP MLA Anil Jha, who represents the Kirari constituency, and BJP MLA Abhay Patil from Karnataka. Both legislators were injured in the collision. Police said a 32-year-old man was driving a hatchback from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO when the vehicle reportedly hit the central divider near the PWD office. The car then crossed the divider and entered the opposite carriageway, where it collided with the SUV travelling in the other direction.

The driver was travelling with his wife and two minor children. All six people involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable. Emergency services, including the Delhi Fire Service, reached the spot following the collision. Both vehicles were damaged in the crash, and authorities worked to clear the accident site.

The IP Estate police station is investigating the incident. Officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision, including how the hatchback crossed the divider and entered the opposite side of the road. The accident briefly disrupted traffic movement in the busy ITO area, one of central Delhis key road corridors. No fatalities have been reported in the incident. Further details are expected as the police investigation progresses.
