‘Uddhav Sena crumbling’: Shiv Sena leaders amid uproar over recognition to 6 SS (UBT) MPs

New Delhi, July 19 (AHN) The recognition of the merger of rebel SS (UBT) with Shiv Sena (Shinde) by the Lok Sabha Speaker has been welcomed by the latter, as they described the move as an indication of a crumbling outfit under Uddhav Thackeray and also a victory for progressive politics under Eknath Shinde.

Speaker Om Birla approved the merger of six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Saturday, validating their switchover under the anti-defection law, ahead of the Parliament’s Monsoon Session. These members will now be considered MPs of the Shinde faction and not the Uddhav Sena.

Reacting to the decision, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam stated that the Speaker's order makes it evident that it was done within the framework of the Constitution.

“These six MPs did not take any illegal steps; the law grants them the right to join any party if they command a two-thirds majority,” he stated.

Launching a scathing attack on Uddhav Thackeray, he said that the public has lost faith in the Thackeray-led party.

“It is continuously shrinking, fracturing, and disintegrating; they are reciting the 'Ram Raksha Stotra' solely in a desperate attempt to save their party,” he remarked.

He further accused the Hindutva outfit of abandoning its core ideology by tying with forces antithetical to its ideology and claimed that they severed their connection with Lord Ram.

He said that now that the party was falling apart, they are invoking Lord Ram's name.

“Reciting the 'Ram Raksha Stotra' while being allied with the enemies of Ram is akin to Ravana reciting verses in praise of Ram,” he said.

Another Shiv Sena leader, Shaina NC, justified the recognition of rebel Sena MPs, stating that this was an affirmation of leaders’ faith in Eknath Shinde’s progressive style of politics. She also advised SS (UBT) to reflect on why their leaders and workers are joining our party.
