Bhubaneswar, July 27 (AHN) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday said that regular monitoring of the grievance redressal mechanism at every level has significantly improved the grievance resolution rate, strengthening public confidence in the system across the state.
He made the statement while addressing reporters after hearing grievances at the 19th public grievance hearing held at the Chief Minister's Public Grievance Cell in Unit-II, Bhubaneswar.
Majhi also stated that Odisha's public grievance redressal system has become more effective, with 96 per cent of complaints received at the State-level grievance cell already resolved.
Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister said, "The status of every grievance is being monitored on a regular basis. The grievance hearing mechanism is being supervised from the State level to the district level. Therefore, the resolution rate is improving. As a result, public confidence in this system is also increasing."
According to official figures, 14,331 of the 14,941 petitions received during the previous 18 sittings of the State-level grievance cell have been resolved, accounting for around 96 per cent of the total grievances.
CM Majhi noted that besides the state-level initiative, district collectors and superintendents of police are regularly hearing public grievances at the district level, while grievance hearings are also being conducted on a regular basis at the tehsil and block levels. By the end of June, as many as 259,213 grievances had been heard at the district level, with 89 per cent of them resolved.
On Monday, as on previous occasions, the Chief Minister first met persons with disabilities and those suffering from serious ailments who were waiting outside the grievance cell. He listened to their problems, accepted their petitions, and directed the officials present to take immediate action. Majhi then proceeded inside the grievance cell to hear the grievances of the registered complainants.
The Chief Minister also sanctioned medical assistance amounting to Rs 6.15 lakh through the Single Window System for around 12 persons suffering from various critical illnesses. More than 700 grievance petitions were received on Monday through both online and offline modes.
"Our government has been connected with the common people from the very beginning. We are giving the highest priority to addressing the problems of the common people. Our government, in the true sense of the term, is a government of the common people," Majhi said.
Notably, six senior ministers of the state government also remained present alongside the Chief Minister and listened to public grievances.
