MP to mark Partition Remembrance Day, I-Day with Vande Mataram

Bhopal, Aug 11 (AHN) Madhya Pradesh will observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14 and mark the country’s 80th Independence Day the next day with a special rendition of the national song Vande Mataram, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Tuesday.

Addressing ministers ahead of the state Council of Ministers meeting at the Mantralaya, Yadav said August 14 would be dedicated to remembering people who suffered displacement and lost their lives during the Partition.

He directed all ministers to participate actively in programmes organised across the state to mark the day.

The following day, the state‑level Independence Day celebrations will be broadcast live across all districts. Ministers in charge will subsequently give details of development works undertaken in their respective districts.

“For the first time on this occasion, a dignified rendition of the national song Vande Mataram will take place,” Yadav said in a statement.

He added that Independence Day programmes would be organised in the context of the country’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Yadav asked ministers to ensure active participation in the programmes scheduled around August 14 and 15. He said the observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day would pay tribute to those affected and help keep alive the memory of the suffering associated with it.

“The programmes on these occasions should be conducted with active participation of all ministers and convey the spirit of national unity and the country’s progress,” Yadav said.

The state‑level Independence Day function will be followed by presentations from ministers in charge on development works carried out in their respective districts.

Meanwhile, the annual Karmashree Tiranga Yatra will be held in Bhopal on August 14.

Chief Minister Yadav and Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Hemant Khandelwal are scheduled to participate in the yatra, officials said.
