Kanpur, April 8 (AHN) Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday took a dig at the BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh, saying "Kanpur has been made Badnaampur" under the party's rule.
Akhilesh Yadav visited the city to pay tribute to his security guard and meet the latter's family members.
Speaking to reporters, he accused the BJP of failing to deliver its promise to clean the rivers.
"The situation of the drains here (in Kanpur) reflects the situation of the BJP. There are two rivers here which have been polluted by the BJP," he said.
The SP chief also alleged that a kidney trafficking racket was functioning in the city.
"Can anyone imagine such big scams happening in healthcare? Kidneys of people are being taken out."
"Poor people were being paid money in exchange of their kidneys," he added.
Taking a dig, he said: "A new OTT show might come on kaleen bhai, koreen bhai, and kidney bhai".
"BJP has made Kanpur 'Badnaampu'r by telling lies," he added.
Referring to the alleged accidents and crimes in the city, Akhilesh Yadav said: "The identity of the city has been made in a way that when people talk about Kanpur, they are reminded about overturning of cars (accidents). A mother-daughter duo was burnt alive... people get reminded of that too."
Alleging that the electricity bills in the state are skyrocketing, he termed the smart meters "victim meters".
Turning to the upcoming Assembly elections, he accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of working with the BJP.
"Today I saw the Election Commission's post on X, which said that this time there would be no booth capturing in West Bengal, and that elections in the state would be free from inducements, disruptions, violence and threats. If the Election Commission does not interfere, elections will be free of inducements," he said.
He appealed to the people of West Bengal to vote for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress. "Every single vote will be to save the democracy," he said.
About the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav said: "We have made PDA Prahari. And look at the magic of PDA Prahari. We caught a person who was being used by the BJP people to cut votes."
Separately, he also accused Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of turning into an engineer and designing roads in the state.
Moreover, Yadav expressed confidence in his Samajwadi Party's victory in the Assembly elections scheduled for next year. "In the times ahead, the people of Uttar Pradesh will remove BJP from the state. Samajwadi Party will form a government with a historic win," he said.
