K'taka MPs meet in Delhi a resounding success, says CM Shivakumar

Bengaluru, July 28 (AHN) Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's Office on Tuesday described the all-party meeting with Members of Parliament from Karnataka, held in New Delhi, as a "resounding success", stating that the gathering reflected a spirit of unity and collective commitment towards the state's development.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said the meeting marked a significant step towards building consensus on key issues affecting Karnataka and expressed confidence that the spirit of cooperation displayed in New Delhi would help advance the state's developmental agenda.

The statement further stated that the meeting witnessed unprecedented participation from Karnataka's MPs across party lines and underscored the importance of setting aside political differences to jointly pursue the state's interests.

According to the statement, several opposition leaders who attended the meeting appreciated both its objective and CM Shivakumar's inclusive approach.

BJP leaders and Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Shobha Karandlaje, V. Somanna, former CM and BJP MPs Jagdish Shettar and Basavaraj Bommai, along with Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty, reportedly remarked that they had not seen such a large gathering of Karnataka MPs at a single meeting in the past and described it as a first-of-its-kind initiative, the statement said.

The Chief Minister's Office said the leaders commended Shivakumar for organising the meeting and emphasised that it sent a strong message on the need for unity in addressing Karnataka's concerns.

"The meeting demonstrated that there is strength in unity. Leaders across party affiliations echoed the Chief Minister's appeal to work together for Karnataka's progress and development," the statement said.

The CMO noted that one of the major outcomes of the meeting was the positive response from MPs regarding efforts to secure the Centre's support for pending infrastructure projects, release of funds due to the state, and assistance in tackling the prevailing drought situation.

Those who attended the meeting included Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, V. Somanna, and Shobha Karandlaje; Lok Sabha members Basavaraj Bommai, Jagadish Shettar, P.C. Gaddigoudar, Ramesh Jigajinagi, C.N. Manjunath, E. Tukaram, Tejasvi Surya, P.C. Mohan, Govind Karjol, K. Sudhakar, Sunil Bose, Priyanka Jarkiholi, Prabha Mallikarjun, Radhakrishna, Shreyas Patel, Rajshekar Hitnal, Mallesh Babu, Brijesh Chowta, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Kumar Naik, B.Y. Raghavendra, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, Kota Srinivas Poojary and Sagar Khandre.

Rajya Sabha members Sudha Murty, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, G.C. Chandrashekhar, Syed Nasir Hussain, Narayan Bhandage, M. Nagaraj, Mansoor Ali Khan and Pawan Khera were also present.

The statement added that Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and H.D. Kumaraswamy, along with Rajya Sabha members Mallikarjun Kharge, Jaggesh, Lehar Singh Siroya and D. Veerendra Heggade, were unable to attend the meeting due to prior commitments and had informed the organisers in advance.
