India and Russia reaffirm commitment to advance defence industrial and technological cooperation

New Delhi, Aug 6 (AHN) India and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to enhance mutual trust and advance defence industrial and technological cooperation during the ongoing fifth India-Russia Army Land System Sub-Group (ALSSG) meeting being held in New Delhi.

The four-day engagement from August 4–7, being held under the aegis of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-M&MTC), aims to further strengthen the longstanding bilateral defence partnership between the two nations.

"Lt Gen Rahul R Singh, DCOAS (CD&S), led the Indian delegation. Maj Gen Tufekchi Aleksandr, Deputy Head of the Main Armoured Directorate, Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, headed the Russian delegation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutual trust and advancing Defence Industrial and Technological Cooperation," the Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) posted on X.

Last month, during the 14th meeting of the India-Russia Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism (CT) held in New Delhi, India and Russia shared their experiences in countering terrorism and agreed to enhance cooperation to address challenges of violent extremism, radicalisation, terror financing and the use of new and emerging technologies and digital financial technologies for terrorist purposes.

In the July 8 meeting - co-chaired by Sibi George, Secretary (West) in the MEA, and Dmitry Lyubinsky, Russia's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs - the two nations discussed the current and emerging terrorist threats at the global and regional level, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) detailed.

The two nations also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation in bilateral as well as multilateral platforms, including at the United Nations, BRICS, EAG and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

"Both sides condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism and condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, India on 22 April 2025 and the terror incident near Red Fort, New Delhi on 10 November 2025. They called for concerted action against terrorists and terrorist groups, including those listed in the UNSC 1267 Sanctions Committee and their proxy groups and affiliates," read the MEA statement.
