Ahmedabad, July 27 (AHN) The Ministry of Railways has approved significant changes to the Ahmedabad-Okha Vande Bharat Express, shifting its terminal operations from Ahmedabad railway station to Sabarmati (Jail Side) station and introducing the train's first-ever halt at Ambli Road from August 17.
The revised arrangement, aimed at improving passenger convenience and rail connectivity, applies to Train Nos: 22925 and 22926 operating between Sabarmati and Okha.
The changes include a revised timetable and an additional stop at Ambli Road railway station to serve Ahmedabad's rapidly expanding western suburbs.
Under the new schedule, Train No. 22925 Sabarmati-Okha Vande Bharat Express will depart Sabarmati at 6:15 a.m. every day except Tuesday from August 17.
It will arrive at Ambli Road at 6:23 a.m., depart two minutes later at 6:25 a.m., and reach Okha at 1:20 p.m.
The return service, Train No. 22926 Okha-Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express, will leave Okha at 4:45 p.m., arrive at Ambli Road at 10:40 p.m., depart at 10:42 p.m., and terminate at Sabarmati at 11:10 p.m.
The train will continue to operate six days a week, remaining off service on Tuesdays.
Railway authorities said the operational shift means the Vande Bharat Express will now originate from and terminate at Sabarmati (Jail Side) station instead of Ahmedabad railway station.
"The new halt at Ambli Road has been introduced keeping in view the travel requirements of passengers from Ahmedabad's fast-growing western corridor," they added.
With the addition of the stop, Ambli Road railway station will receive its first Vande Bharat Express halt.
The station is expected to provide improved access to passengers from areas including SG Highway, Bodakdev, Prahlad Nagar, South Bopal, Shela and neighbouring localities, reducing travel time to board the premium semi-high-speed service.
The Railways also clarified that the existing timetable will remain in force until the revised schedule takes effect.
The current arrangement for Train No. 22925 Ahmedabad-Okha Vande Bharat Express will continue until 15 August 2026, while the existing schedule for Train No. 22926 Okha-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express will remain valid until 16 August.
