Shillong, Aug 29 (AHN) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday paid tribute to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation during his visit to the Assam Regiment War Memorial in Shillong.
Sarma remembered the fallen soldiers and lauded their courage, dedication and commitment to the country, saying their sacrifices would continue to inspire generations to serve the nation.
“Paid my humble tribute to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. Their courage and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations to serve Bharat Mata with utmost dedication. Jai Hind,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
During his visit to the Assam Regimental Centre in Shillong, Sarma also interacted with personnel of the armed forces and observed their daily life and training environment. He said he had a firsthand glimpse into the lives of the personnel who remain committed to protecting the nation and responding to challenges in the line of duty.
“Their daily lives are defined by discipline, dedication and courage to face every challenge that comes their way,” Sarma said.
The Chief Minister’s visit to the War Memorial came as a tribute to the soldiers whose service and sacrifice remain an integral part of the history and traditions of the Assam Regiment.
Sarma highlighted the values of discipline and courage that guide the armed forces, while acknowledging the commitment of serving personnel who continue to shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding the country.
The Assam Regiment, with its strong association with the northeastern region, has a long record of service in various military operations and conflicts. The regiment has also played a significant role in the country’s defence preparedness.
The Chief Minister’s interaction with the personnel at the Assam Regimental Centre provided an opportunity to acknowledge their contribution and understand the demands of military service.
Sarma’s visit and remarks also underlined the importance of remembering fallen soldiers while recognising the dedication of those currently serving the nation. He concluded his tribute with a message of national pride, saluting the bravery and sacrifice of the armed forces and reaffirming the enduring spirit of service to the country.
