Mumbai, Aug 4 (AHN) BSE Limited on Tuesday reported a 9.7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 874 crore for the first quarter of FY27, driven by improved operating performance.
The country's oldest stock exchange had posted a net profit of Rs 797 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, according to an exchange filing.
Revenue remained largely flat during the quarter, rising marginally by 0.2 per cent to Rs 1,566 crore from Rs 1,564 crore in the year-ago period.
Operating performance also showed a modest improvement. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 1 per cent to Rs 1,072 crore in the April-June quarter from Rs 1,061 crore a year earlier.
The EBITDA margin expanded to 68.4 per cent from 67.9 per cent in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, as per its regulatory filing.
BSE Limited shares ended Monday's trading session 1.20 per cent higher at Rs 3,618 apiece, outperforming the broader market. The benchmark Nifty closed 0.64 per cent lower during the session.
Meanwhile, BSE Index Services Private Limited -- a wholly-owned subsidiary of BSE -- last month launched the BSE Total Market Index (TMI), a new benchmark designed to track the performance of companies representing 98 per cent of the BSE AllCap Index by total market capitalisation.
The index will maintain coverage of at least 98 per cent of the BSE AllCap universe, subject to a minimum of 1,000 constituent stocks, making it one of the broadest benchmarks for the Indian equity market.
The BSE Total Market Index has a base value of 1,000, with September 16, 2005, as its first value date. The index will be reconstituted semi-annually in June and December.
