Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav holds roadshow for RJD candidate in Bankipur

Patna, July 27 (AHN) Campaigning for the Bankipur Assembly by-election has entered its final phase ahead of polling on July 30.

Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Bihar Tejashwi Yadav on Monday conducted a grand roadshow in support of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Rekha Gupta, urging voters to back the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) candidate.

The roadshow began from the party’s election office in Mithapur and passed through Chandpur Bela, Sipara, Postal Park, Chiraiyatand, Goriyatoli, Pirmuhani and Lohanipur. Large numbers of party workers and supporters lined the route, while Tejashwi Yadav greeted the public and sought votes for Rekha Gupta.

The campaign continued through Sahitya Sammelan, Dariyapur, Khetan Market and Birla Mandir, with enthusiastic participation from RJD workers. The roadshow concluded in the evening at Sabzibagh Crossing, where party leaders intensified their public outreach as the campaign entered its final stretch.

The RJD has also scheduled another roadshow on Tuesday, July 28, led by Tejashwi Yadav. It will begin from Old Hartali Mor and pass through Boring Road, Rajapur Pul, Police Line Crossing, Lodipur, China Kothi, Income Tax Golambar and Kidwaipuri, before concluding near the Chakram Devi Temple.

With only a short time left before voting, the back-to-back roadshows are being viewed as a key component of the RJD’s campaign strategy to consolidate support in the constituency.

Following the roadshow, Tejashwi Yadav visited the family of Bunty Yadav, a shopkeeper who was recently murdered, and expressed his condolences.

Addressing the media afterwards, he alleged that Bunty Yadav was killed for exposing an alleged sex racket operating with police complicity.

He said: “Shopkeeper Bunty Yadav was murdered for exposing an alleged sex racket operating with police complicity. The culprits deserve the death penalty. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is merely engaging in empty posturing.”

His remarks added a fresh political dimension to the Bankipur by-election campaign, with the opposition using the incident to target the state government over law and order, while intensifying its outreach efforts ahead of polling.
