Itanagar, April 9 (AHN) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik (Retd) on Thursday visited the remote border outpost of Khenzemane near the Line of Actual Control in Tawang district, where he encouraged troops to maintain high morale, remain physically fit, and stay mentally alert at all times, particularly given the demanding conditions in forward areas.​

A Lok Bhavan official said that, nestled amid challenging terrain and harsh weather, the border outpost stands as a symbol of India’s vigilance and resilience. The Governor’s visit was seen as a strong gesture of solidarity with the forces guarding the nation’s frontiers.​

Continuing his outreach to troops deployed in border regions, the Governor interacted with personnel of the Indian Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and sacrifices.

Drawing from his extensive military experience, Lt Gen Parnaik connected with the troops on a personal level, listening to their concerns and gaining insights into their day-to-day challenges. ​

He also enquired about their overall well-being, including their ability to remain connected with their families despite being stationed in remote locations.​

While motivating the troops, the Governor emphasised the importance of maintaining high morale, physical fitness, and constant mental alertness, especially in such demanding operational environments.​

He stressed that the strength of mind and body, combined with discipline and unity, is crucial to ensuring operational readiness and safeguarding national security.​

Highlighting the importance of civil-military harmony, the Governor advised the forces to maintain close, cordial relations with local communities.

He underscored that the trust and support of people living in border areas are invaluable for effective functioning. ​

Recalling lessons from the Sino-Indian War of 1962, he reminded personnel that local communities had stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces during difficult times, offering crucial assistance and guidance in navigating the challenging terrain.​

Brigadier Bhupal Singh, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade, accompanied the Governor during the visit.​

Meanwhile, Lt Gen Neeraj Shukla, General Officer Commanding of the Gajraj Corps, called on the Governor and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu in Tawang on Thursday. ​

During the meeting, discussions focused on various aspects of civil-military coordination, as well as ongoing and future developmental initiatives in the state’s border areas.​

A defence spokesperson stated that emphasis was placed on strengthening synergy between the Armed Forces and civil administration to enhance infrastructure, connectivity, and socio-economic development in remote regions.​

Both the Governor and the Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the Indian Army’s sustained efforts and unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for local communities in far-flung areas of Arunachal Pradesh. ​

They also acknowledged the Army’s significant role in advancing the Vibrant Village Programme and promoting the integration of border villages into the broader national development framework.​

The interaction reaffirmed a shared commitment to ensuring security, development, and inclusive growth in the state's strategically important border regions.​
