Drake’s defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s diss track Not Like Us has been dismissed by a New York federal judge. The judge ruled that the song’s insults, part of a heated rap battle, were not meant to be taken literally. UMG welcomed the decision, calling the suit an “affront to artists’ creative expression,” while Drake plans to appeal the ruling. The label also noted that Drake himself had encouraged and participated in the feud with Lamar.
