Congress Stages Protests Across States, Calls for CEC Gyanesh Kumar's Resignation

Congress workers held protests in several states on Monday against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his resignation over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. In Hyderabad, Telangana Congress leaders led a march to the Election Commission office, where party leaders said they would submit a complaint seeking action against Kumar. Congress MP Kiran Kumar Chamala alleged that voter names had been removed for political reasons and demanded the restoration of affected voters. Protests were also reported in Patna, Srinagar and Lucknow. Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the Election Commission of illegally conducting the SIR exercise and questioned changes related to Form 6. The Congress has called for Kumar’s removal, while its allegations over the electoral-roll revision remain part of an ongoing political dispute.
