Anthropic Rolls Out Rupee-Based Pricing for Claude AI as It Expands Presence in India

Anthropic has launched Indian Rupee (INR) pricing for its Claude AI subscriptions, making it easier for customers in India to pay without currency conversion. The move reflects the company's growing focus on one of its largest user communities. The Claude Pro plan is now priced at ₹2,000 per month, while the Claude Max plan starts at ₹11,999 per month. The new pricing is available on Claude's website and mobile apps, with card payments currently supported. The company is initially offering local pricing for new Pro, Max, and Team subscribers in India as part of a broader strategy to introduce localized pricing across global markets. Anthropic has been expanding rapidly in India. Earlier this year, it opened a Bengaluru office—its second in Asia after Tokyo—and announced several partnerships, calling India its second-largest market for Claude.ai. The move comes as AI firms, including OpenAI, continue to strengthen their presence in the country amid growing demand for advanced AI tools.
