Woman Alleges Religious Pressure in TCS Nashik Case, SIT Chargesheet Reveals New Details

Nashik: Fresh details emerging from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the alleged harassment case linked to a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)-associated unit in Nashik have added a new dimension to the ongoing investigation. According to information mentioned in the SIT chargesheet, a 23-year-old woman alleged that she was discouraged from following Hindu religious practices and was repeatedly shown videos of Islamic preachers, including Pakistani cleric Tariq Jamil and controversial preacher Zakir Naik.
The complainant told investigators that one of the accused, reportedly her co-worker, advised her against listening to “Bhagwan songs” or visiting temples. She further claimed that she was encouraged to adopt Islamic practices, including reciting Tasbeeh and watching religious sermons online. The woman alleged that the accused initially gained her trust by offering emotional support and promising marriage. Over time, she said, conversations gradually shifted toward religion and spirituality.
As per the chargesheet, the accused allegedly told her that watching religious speeches would help reduce stress and bring peace to her life. The complainant stated that she eventually began consuming content related to Islamic teachings, festivals, and concepts of heaven and hell. The case is part of a larger investigation involving allegations of workplace harassment, emotional manipulation, and exploitation at a Nashik-based BPO unit associated with TCS. Multiple women employees have reportedly recorded statements before investigators.
The Maharashtra government had constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the matter after serious allegations surfaced earlier this year. Officials familiar with the investigation said the chargesheet contains statements from more than 100 witnesses, including employees, managers, members of internal complaint committees, and police officials.
The accused persons have denied the allegations. The matter is currently under investigation, and no court has yet established the claims made in the chargesheet. TCS has stated that it is cooperating with authorities and remains committed to maintaining a safe and professional work environment. Reports suggest that action has already been taken against individuals linked to the case pending investigation. The developments have sparked discussions online around workplace safety, emotional vulnerability, and the need for stronger internal grievance systems within corporate organizations.
