West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met Governor RN Ravi at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata on Wednesday. Adhikari announced that individuals identified as “infiltrators” would be handed over by the police to the Border Security Force (BSF) for deportation. Speaking during an administrative coordination meeting in Kalyani with officials and representatives from Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts, he also revealed plans to discontinue the public grievance platform “Mukhyamantri Ke Bolo” from next week. The platform will be rebranded as “Apnar Sarkar Ke Bolun” (Tell Your Government), along with a new helpline number.

The Chief Minister further stated that liquor shops would no longer be permitted within a one-kilometre radius of schools and colleges, and fresh licences would not be granted in such zones. Adhikari also confirmed that the West Bengal government is set to sign an agreement with the Union government on June 8 in Delhi regarding the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Highlighting the state’s governance strategy, he said the government has initiated a series of administrative coordination meetings across various districts to improve cooperation between elected representatives and government officials. Similar meetings are planned in Malda for Malda and Murshidabad districts, and in Kolaghat covering Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, and Howrah.

According to Adhikari, the objective of these meetings is to establish stronger coordination between MLAs and the administration to ensure faster and more effective governance. He added that legislators and MPs from all political parties, including the opposition, would be invited to participate and contribute suggestions related to public administration and governance.
