Viral Buffalo Named 'Donald Trump' Spared From Eid Sacrifice in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh: A buffalo in Bangladesh that went viral online because of its resemblance to former US President Donald Trump has reportedly been spared from Eid al-Adha sacrifice after gaining widespread public attention. The rare buffalo, known locally as “Donald Trump” due to its unusual blond hair-like patch on the head, became a major attraction at a cattle market near Dhaka ahead of the Eid festival. Photos and videos of the animal quickly spread across social media, drawing large crowds of curious visitors.
According to local reports, the buffalo had already been sold for sacrifice during Eid al-Adha. However, authorities later intervened as the animal’s popularity continued to grow and crowds around it became difficult to manage. Officials arranged for the buyer to receive compensation, and the buffalo was transferred to a zoo in Dhaka, where it will now remain under care and protection.
The buffalo reportedly weighs around 700 kilograms and is considered rare because of its light-colored appearance. Animal experts say albino or unusually pale buffaloes are uncommon in the region, making the animal stand out in local livestock markets. Its owner told local media that the buffalo required special care, including regular bathing and extra attention due to its sensitive skin.
The incident has sparked widespread discussion online, with many social media users reacting to the unusual story. Some described it as a surprising example of how internet fame can influence real-world events. Eid al-Adha, one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar, is traditionally marked by animal sacrifice, prayers, and charitable giving. However, this year, the buffalo nicknamed “Donald Trump” has become an unexpected symbol of viral culture in Bangladesh. The story has also highlighted the growing impact of social media in shaping public reactions and influencing local decisions in unusual circumstances.
