Varun recalls his dad David Dhawan saying, 'Varun recalls his dad David Dhawan saying...' on a film set as a kid.

Varun Dhawan continues to uphold the legacy of his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, by carving out his own successful career in Bollywood while valuing his dad’s guidance on and off set. In a recent interview with ANI, Varun shared how his father always encouraged him to build his own identity. Recalling his internship on a David Dhawan film in Delhi, he remembered being scolded for overstepping his role.
“When it comes to work, my father separates personal relationships from his vision. During my internship, I suggested how a shot should be done, but that wasn’t his approach. He told me, ‘Jab tum apni film banaoge ya jab ek mukaam pe phuch jaaoge tab karlena ye sab…’ (When you make your own film or reach that stage, you can make such choices. For now, it’s my set, and things will be done my way),” Varun said.
He admitted feeling disappointed at the time but acknowledged that his father was right. “Now, our creative discussions have become very productive,” he added. Varun is currently preparing for the release of his film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra, which is set to hit theaters on October 2.
