Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday announced that Bihar has received an unprecedented railway allocation of over ₹10,000 crore under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that the state's rail infrastructure is undergoing rapid transformation. Addressing the media after arriving in Patna, Vaishnaw said Bihar is witnessing railway development on a massive scale, with ongoing projects collectively valued at around ₹1.15 lakh crore. He noted that the state is experiencing a fresh phase of infrastructure growth aimed at improving connectivity and transportation capacity.

The minister highlighted several major projects currently underway in and around Patna. Among them is the construction of a new railway station at Hardinge Park, which will feature five additional platforms and modern facilities. He also pointed to significant development work taking place in Fatuha, a town located near the state capital.

In a major boost to passenger connectivity, Vaishnaw announced the launch of a new express train service linking Chhapra directly with Delhi. The new route is expected to improve travel convenience for thousands of passengers from the region. The Railway Minister also underscored the success of the government's Make in India initiative, particularly in Bihar's manufacturing sector. He revealed that locomotives produced at the Marhowrah locomotive factory are gaining international recognition, with the 51st engine set to be exported to the West African nation of Guinea.

Reacting to the announcement, BJP Member of Parliament Rajiv Pratap Rudy welcomed the introduction of the Chhapra-Delhi Express, calling it a long-awaited project for residents of Chhapra, Saran, and surrounding areas. Rudy said the new train service demonstrates the government's commitment to Bihar's development and addresses a long-standing demand from local residents. He pointed out that passengers from the region previously faced difficulties in securing direct train connectivity and often had to travel to nearby stations such as Sonepur or Varanasi for better travel options.

According to the BJP leader, the new service will not only strengthen transportation links between Bihar and the national capital but also provide greater convenience to migrants, students, and business travelers who frequently travel between the two destinations. The announcements come as the Centre continues to expand railway infrastructure across Bihar through station redevelopment projects, network modernization, capacity enhancement, and increased manufacturing activities aimed at boosting both regional growth and exports.
