Union Minister Piyush Goyal is set to move a motion on Tuesday in the Lok Sabha seeking permission to withdraw The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025 as Parliament continues the second phase of discussions on the Union Budget 2026-27. The bill, first introduced in 2025, is proposed to be withdrawn in order to revise several legal provisions aimed at decriminalising certain offences and simplifying regulatory rules. The objective is to strengthen trust-based governance and improve ease of living and ease of doing business, in line with recommendations made by a Select Committee, according to the revised list of business for the day.

Kiren Rijiju and Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh will present a motion to adopt the Fifteenth Report of the Business Advisory Committee, which was submitted on March 16. The day’s parliamentary agenda will largely focus on voting on demands for grants for the 2026-27 financial year. Discussions and voting will be held for three key ministries: the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Several Parliamentary Standing Committees are also expected to table important reports during the Budget Session. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and BJP MP Vishnu Dayal Ram will present reports of the Committee on Home Affairs, including action taken by the government on earlier recommendations related to Demands for Grants for 2025-26. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and Rabindra Narayan Behera will submit reports concerning the Demands for Grants for 2026-27 related to the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Members of the Committee on External Affairs, including Shashi Tharoor and Arvind Ganpat Sawant, will present the committee’s 13th report on actions taken by the government regarding recommendations in its earlier report evaluating India’s Indian Ocean strategy. The Standing Committee on Finance will also present three reports related to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning, and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

The Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles, and Skill Development will submit reports on the Demands for Grants for 2026-27 for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Textiles, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. MP Sunil Dattatrey Tatkare will also table the seventh report of the Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas regarding the Demands for Grants for 2026-27 for the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Proceedings in the Lower House will begin with the Question Hour, followed by ministers presenting official papers, including Virendra Kumar from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Giriraj Singh from the Ministry of Textiles.
