Udhampur bus crash: Death toll climbs to 15, confirms Udhampur-Reasi Range DIG.

The death toll in the Udhampur bus accident has climbed to 15, according to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Udhampur–Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, who confirmed the update on Monday. The tragic incident has left several families grieving while many others continue to battle injuries in hospitals.

According to police officials, the accident occurred when a public transport bus lost control and collided with an auto rickshaw. Fortunately, all passengers in the auto rickshaw survived the crash. DIG Sharma stated that the authorities are fully committed to supporting the victims and their families during this difficult time. He emphasized that providing immediate and effective medical treatment to the injured remains the top priority, with efforts focused on saving as many lives as possible.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Udhampur, Prem Singh Chib, reported that 33 people were injured in the accident, apart from those who lost their lives. The bus was traveling from Ramnagar to Udhampur and was carrying students, employees, and other passengers when the mishap occurred.

Chib also informed that the injured have been admitted to nearby medical facilities. Around 20 individuals are being treated at Ramnagar Hospital, while 13 others have been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) in Udhampur. Patients requiring specialized care are being transferred promptly, and authorities have even arranged for helicopter services if necessary to ensure timely treatment. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending her condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Further details are still awaited as investigations continue.
