Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor has reportedly received an extortion threat demanding Rs 5 crore from an individual claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threatening communication has prompted an investigation by the Mumbai Police, with the Crime Branch examining the identity of the caller. According to media reports, the caller allegedly identified himself as Harry Boxer, a person believed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and demanded Rs 5 crore from the actor. The threat was reportedly conveyed through an audio message, following which Kapoor approached the police.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has reportedly conducted a preliminary examination of the voice recording. Investigators compared the voice in the message with available voice samples of Harry Boxer. However, the initial analysis did not establish a match, raising suspicions that the caller may have been impersonating the alleged gang member.

The Anti-Extortion Cell and Crime Branch are now investigating the matter to identify the person responsible for the threat and establish whether the communication had any genuine connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. As per reports available on November 3, no FIR had been registered in the case. The incident has once again brought the issue of extortion threats targeting Bollywood personalities into focus. Several prominent figures from the film industry have previously faced threats allegedly linked to organised criminal networks, raising concerns about the security of celebrities.

Tusshar Kapoor, the son of veteran actor Jeetendra and producer Shobha Kapoor, is widely recognised for his performances in films such as the Golmaal franchise, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum and Shootout at Lokhandwala. Investigators are focusing on verifying the caller's identity and tracing the origin of the threatening message. While the use of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's name has raised serious concerns, its involvement in the alleged extortion attempt has not been established.
