As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, reports have emerged alleging that Turkey is supplying arms and ammunition to Pakistan. The reports suggested that a Turkish C-130E Hercules aircraft had landed in Karachi to deliver military equipment, with some media outlets claiming that six such planes had arrived in Pakistan.

However, Turkish officials quickly dismissed these claims. The Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications clarified that a Turkish cargo plane had only landed in Pakistan for refuelling purposes, rejecting allegations of weapon shipments. A post on social media from the Turkish authorities stated, “The claims circulating in some media outlets about Türkiye sending six planes full of weapons to Pakistan are not true.”

Pakistan and Turkey have long enjoyed a strong alliance, characterized by regular high-level exchanges and cooperation across various sectors. The two nations have a formal forum for cooperation the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) established in 2009, which facilitates coordination on matters such as trade, defence, energy, health, and education.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan have soured. In retaliation, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, asked all Pakistani nationals to return, and declared military advisors at the Pakistani Embassy in New Delhi persona non grata. In response, Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian airlines, blocked the Wagah border, suspended all trade, and revisited the Shimla Agreement. India has vowed strong action against terrorism. In his first statement after the Pahalgam attacks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted, "India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth."
