Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Returns to Chennai After London Tour

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay returned to Chennai on Thursday morning after completing a seven-day official visit to London aimed at attracting new industrial investments and strengthening business partnerships for the state. Vijay had left Chennai on the night of September 10 for the United Kingdom as part of the Tamil Nadu government's investment outreach programme. During the visit, he and the state delegation held meetings with investors and representatives from several industries.

According to reports citing the Tamil Nadu government, investment agreements signed during the London visit are expected to bring commitments worth around ₹15,300 crore to the state. The proposed investments are also projected to generate employment opportunities for more than 10,000 people.

One of the major announcements involved Samvardhana Motherson International, which is reported to have committed around ₹11,000 crore toward projects in Tamil Nadu. Other companies, including Wilson Power Solutions and Sigma Technology, were also associated with investment proposals during the visit.

Focus on industrial growth: The London trip was primarily focused on bringing investment into sectors such as advanced manufacturing, technology, automotive components and electrical equipment. The state delegation also held discussions with international businesses about expanding their operations in Tamil Nadu.

During the UK visit, Vijay also travelled to Silverstone, the renowned motorsport venue, as the state explored possibilities related to motorsport infrastructure, sports tourism and related automobile industries. The Chief Minister's return to Chennai marks the end of the overseas investment outreach. The next stage will involve follow-up with companies that signed agreements or expressed investment interest, with the focus shifting toward converting these commitments into actual projects and employment in Tamil Nadu.
