Rajpal Yadav revealed he faced his court surrender alone, without any money or friends for support.

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav revealed the financial difficulties he faced before surrendering at Tihar Jail in a cheque-bounce case. He admitted he had no money to repay the amount and no friends to turn to for support, saying he had to face the situation alone. Yadav surrendered on Thursday after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for an extension. He had been ordered to surrender by February 4 but could not comply, prompting the court to deny any further relief. The bench emphasized that the law applies equally to everyone, regardless of their profession.
When asked if he had sought help from colleagues or industry friends, including frequent collaborator Priyadarshan, Yadav said, "Sir, we are all on our own here. There are no friends. I have to handle this crisis myself." Following the court’s directive, Tihar Jail officials confirmed that Yadav appeared before the Jail Superintendent around 4 pm. The High Court criticized the delay and clarified that professional status does not warrant special treatment, stating, “This Court cannot be expected to create special circumstances for anyone based on their industry background.”
The bench also noted that its previous order had clearly specified the surrender date. While Yadav’s lawyer explained that the delay was due to arranging repayment, the court stressed that repeated leniency would undermine judicial authority. Actor Sonu Sood voiced support for Yadav on X, urging the film industry to stand together in tough times. He praised Yadav’s contribution to cinema and suggested that small financial assistance against future work is a matter of dignity, not charity, emphasizing that the industry must support colleagues in hardship.
Rajpal Yadav is a well-known actor and comedian with a Bollywood career spanning over two decades. He made his debut in the late 1990s and gained recognition for his antagonist role in Jungle (2000). He has appeared in nearly 150 films, including Hindi, Marathi, English, Telugu, Kannada, Avadhi, and Bengali projects. He was seen in Baby John and Interrogation. His upcoming film is Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla, set to release on April 10.
