Rahul appeals to the Railway Minister, requesting a Rajdhani Express stop at Rae Bareli.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has formally reached out to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging him to introduce a scheduled halt of the Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Rae Bareli junction. In his communication, Gandhi pointed out that although the train already passes through Rae Bareli, passengers from the region have been persistently demanding a stop at the station. He explained that such a move would significantly ease the travel difficulties of local residents, especially those commuting to the national capital.
The senior Congress leader specifically requested halts for train numbers 20503/20504 and 20505/20506, which are part of the Rajdhani Express service. He emphasized that this step would not only provide greater convenience for his constituency but also respond to a long-standing public demand that has been repeatedly raised.
“The people of my parliamentary constituency have consistently sought a brief halt at Rae Bareli junction to facilitate travel to New Delhi,” Gandhi wrote in his letter, which was dated September 3. He further underlined that the request has been pending for a considerable time and granting it would meet an important and pressing need of the people he represents.
Adding weight to Gandhi’s appeal, his close aide and Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma confirmed on Friday that the former Congress president had indeed written to the Railway Minister over the matter. Sharma said that Gandhi’s demand was in line with the expectations of the people of Rae Bareli and was aimed at addressing their everyday travel challenges. With this letter, Gandhi has sought to draw the government’s attention towards a grassroots issue that directly impacts his constituency, reflecting both the concerns of local passengers and the need for improved railway connectivity.
