Pune Porsche Accident: Two Suspended Police Officers Dismissed for Investigation Lapses

Two police officers who had been suspended for alleged negligence in investigating last year’s Porsche crash have been dismissed from service, a senior official confirmed on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19, 2024, in Kalyani Nagar, when a Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old under the influence, ran over and killed two tech professionals riding a motorcycle.
Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector (API) Vishwanath Todkari of Yerawada police station, already suspended for delays in reporting and lapses in duty, have now been terminated, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated. A proposal for their dismissal had been submitted to the Home Department in March 2025.
An internal inquiry revealed several shortcomings, including delays in registering the case and in collecting the blood samples. Police said the teenager’s blood was collected only at 11 am, several hours after the accident, and there are allegations that his samples were substituted with his mother’s.
The juvenile has since been released from an observation home, while his mother is out on bail. Nine others—including his father, doctors Ajay Tawre and Shreehari Halnor from Sassoon Hospital, staffer Atul Ghatkamble, two middlemen, and three others identified as Aditya Avinash Sood, Ashish Mittal, and Arun Kumar Singh—are in jail for allegedly tampering with the blood samples.
