President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Bareilly on Monday for a two-day official visit to Uttar Pradesh. She was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In a post on social media platform X, the President’s official handle shared: “Governor of Uttar Pradesh Smt Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, received President Droupadi Murmu on her arrival at Bareilly.”

As per an official statement, President Murmu will attend the 11th convocation ceremony of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly on June 30. Later in the day, she is scheduled to take part in the inaugural convocation of AIIMS Gorakhpur. On July 1, she will inaugurate the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur. The foundation stone for this university was laid by former President Ram Nath Kovind on August 28, 2021, following an invitation by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The AYUSH university spans 52 acres in Pipri, Bhathat, about 25 kilometers from Gorakhpur city, and is affiliated with 98 AYUSH colleges across Uttar Pradesh—including 76 Ayurveda, 10 Unani, and 12 Homoeopathy colleges. Previously managed by separate institutions, these colleges are now unified under this single regulatory body. Since its launch in the 2021–22 academic year, the university has been conducting exams and academic operations for various programs in Ayurveda (BAMS, MD, MS), Unani (BUMS, MD, MS), and Homoeopathy (BHMS, MD).

Chief Minister Adityanath initiated the idea of creating the state's first AYUSH university following the central government’s categorization of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy under the AYUSH umbrella. Future plans include the introduction of Yoga, Naturopathy, Siddha, and Sowa-Rigpa programs. The President will also visit Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Gorakhpur, where she will inaugurate the Auditorium, Academic Block, and Panchkarma Kendra. Additionally, she will lay the foundation stone for a new girls’ hostel.
