Farmers across India are preparing for the upcoming 21st instalment of the PM Kisan scheme, with ₹2,000 scheduled to be deposited on 19 November 2025. With the payment date officially confirmed, beneficiaries are hurrying to finish their eKYC, link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts and ensure their land details are correctly updated on the PM Kisan portal. Only those who have completed eKYC, connected their Aadhaar to their bank accounts and uploaded accurate land records on the portal will receive the instalment.

The PM Kisan website states that eKYC is compulsory for all registered farmers. OTP-based eKYC can be completed online through the portal, while biometric verification is available at nearby CSC centres. Eligibility for the scheme requires the farmer to be an Indian citizen who owns cultivable land and falls within the small or marginal farmer category. Beneficiaries should not be pensioners receiving ₹10,000 or more per month, should not be income tax payers and must not be institutional landholders. According to the latest update, the 21st instalment will be released on 19 November 2025, and each eligible farmer will receive ₹2,000. Aadhaar remains the key identity document for the scheme, and eKYC can be done through OTP, biometric verification or facial authentication.

Registered farmers can check their application status by visiting the PM Kisan portal, opening the section meant for self-registered or CSC farmers and verifying their details using their Aadhaar number. New applicants can register by visiting the portal, completing Aadhaar-based verification and submitting personal details, bank information and land ownership records. The application is then reviewed by the State Nodal Officer, and once approved, the farmer’s name appears in the beneficiary list.

Beneficiaries can also check whether their names are included in the list by selecting their state, district, block and village on the portal’s beneficiary section. Those who need to complete eKYC through face authentication can do so by using the PM-KISAN mobile app and the Aadhaar Face RD app, signing in with their registered mobile number, and scanning their face to verify their identity. The updated eKYC status usually reflects within 24 hours.

The PM Kisan portal also offers a “Know Your Status” feature that allows farmers to quickly check the progress of their payments and registration. In addition, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts can be opened through India Post Payments Bank services at the farmer’s doorstep, and registration assistance is available at local CSC centres.

The government has already distributed the 21st instalment to farmers in Jammu and Kashmir following the severe floods, transferring ₹170 crore to 8.5 lakh farmers on 7 October 2025. Under the PM Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three instalments released between April–July, August–November, and December–March. The funds are directly credited to their bank accounts. Introduced after being announced in the 2019 Interim Budget by the then Finance Minister, the scheme is now the world’s largest Direct Benefit Transfer programme.
