Pakistan lawmakers from various political parties have united in strong support of the country’s military, accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of promoting an "anti-state narrative." This show of solidarity comes amid heightened tensions following critical remarks made by PTI leaders against the armed forces.

Senior politicians across parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) openly condemned PTI for its harsh rhetoric against the military leadership. They accused PTI, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, of damaging national unity by undermining key institutions tasked with safeguarding Pakistan’s security.

The military’s spokesperson recently criticized Imran Khan as a “narcissist” and warned that his continuing attacks on the army posed a threat to national security. Lawmakers rallied behind the military, emphasizing that such provocations risk destabilizing the country at a time when it faces multiple security challenges, including insurgency in regions like Balochistan.

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi labeled Imran Khan a “national security threat” and highlighted PTI's past protests at military headquarters and martyrs’ monuments as actions that aid hostile forces. Other leaders echoed calls for maintaining respect for the armed forces and urged political processes over street agitation.

PTI officials countered these accusations, asserting that Imran Khan has always stood for Pakistan’s sovereignty and unity. They described the government and military’s backlash as tactics to silence dissent and limit democratic discourse. This intense political confrontation underscores the delicate balance of power in Pakistan where the military continues to wield significant influence amid economic and security pressures. The recent unified defense of the armed forces by lawmakers signals a decisive stance prioritizing institutional stability over partisan discord, even as PTI retains substantial public support.
