Violent protests erupted in Karachi after a mob forced its way into the United States Consulate, vandalising property and setting parts of the diplomatic compound on fire, triggering deadly clashes with security forces. According to reports, at least eight people were killed and around 20 others injured as demonstrators clashed with law enforcement outside the consulate. Protesters threw stones, broke windows, and breached security barriers before entering sections of the facility, with some areas reportedly set ablaze. Security personnel responded by using tear gas and baton charges in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

The unrest was sparked by widespread anger following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, which triggered protests across several countries. Demonstrators in Karachi gathered outside the consulate to express outrage, with tensions quickly escalating into violence and direct confrontation with authorities.  Emergency rescue teams confirmed that multiple casualties were caused during the clashes, with several victims suffering gunshot wounds. Authorities transported the injured to nearby hospitals as the situation spiralled out of control.

The incident highlights growing instability and rising anti-Western sentiment in parts of Pakistan, where protests over international geopolitical developments have repeatedly turned violent. The attack on a high-security diplomatic facility has raised serious concerns over the ability of local authorities to protect foreign missions and maintain law and order.

The violent breach of the consulate underscores the fragile security situation in Pakistan, as unrest linked to global conflicts increasingly spills over into domestic protests, posing risks to diplomatic relations and internal stability.
