Kejriwal claims Congress and BJP are secretly working together, likening it to a lover's relationship.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal delivered a sharp critique of both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress during a membership drive in Ahmedabad, accusing the two national parties of secretly collaborating behind the scenes. Speaking to supporters, Kejriwal used a provocative metaphor to describe their relationship, asking, “What kind of bond do Congress and BJP share? Is it that of siblings or a married couple? No, it’s like lovers — meeting in secret, fearing public judgment. Their alliance is hidden because society wouldn’t accept it.”
He accused both parties of enabling corruption and holding back development for decades due to their covert understanding. “Stay away from them. They are dangerous. Their 30-year-long rule was possible only because Congress was in BJP’s pocket. One party gets 70% of the contracts, the other gets 20%. They’ve even floated their own companies. And none of them go to jail. Congress works for BJP. Only the Aam Aadmi Party truly works for the nation,” he asserted. Kejriwal positioned AAP as the sole honest and nationalist alternative in Indian politics.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he praised AAP’s recent win in Gujarat’s Visavadar by-election, interpreting it as a clear signal of the public’s desire for change. “The massive victory in Visavadar proves that Gujarat is tired of the BJP and is ready for a new direction,” Kejriwal stated. He emphasized that BJP’s 30-year hold on Gujarat was due to the lack of a real alternative, claiming, “Congress was just supporting BJP. Now, people have found a sincere, patriotic option in AAP and are ready to bring us to power.”
The Visavadar seat became vacant following the resignation of Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai. AAP’s Gopal Italia, a former state party chief, contested and won the by-election, defeating BJP’s Kirit Patel by a margin of 17,554 votes with a total of 75,942 votes. Following the win, Italia called it a historic result, credited the people’s support, and said it reflected the growing trust in AAP's leadership in Gujarat. Party workers celebrated the victory as a significant step toward establishing AAP as a major political force in the state.
