Jr NTR Commemorates NTR's 103rd Birth Anniversary With Emotional Tribute

Actor Jr NTR visited the NTR Ghat in Hyderabad on Thursday to pay homage to his grandfather, legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), on the occasion of his 103rd birth anniversary. Several members of the Nandamuri family, including NTR’s wife Lakshmi Parvathi and daughter Daggubati Purandeswari, also offered floral tributes at the memorial.
Speaking to the media, Lakshmi Parvathi said that NTR continues to live in the hearts of Telugu people across the globe. She noted that people commemorate his birth anniversary through charitable activities such as food distribution and blood donation camps, reflecting the lasting impact he had on society.
She also expressed gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for installing a statue at the memorial site, adding that NTR remains the first name that comes to mind whenever Telugu pride, culture, and identity are discussed. Daggubati Purandeswari described NTR as a leader who belonged to the people and whose legacy remains immortal. She said countless Telugu families still celebrate his birth anniversary with deep affection and respect, considering him an integral part of their lives.
Actor Nandamuri Chaitanya Krishna, grandson of the late leader, also visited NTR Ghat to pay his respects. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also remembered NTR on his birth anniversary through a message posted on X. He praised NTR for his dedication to public welfare, governance, and social dignity for the underprivileged. PM Modi further highlighted NTR’s timeless contribution to Indian cinema and called his life and ideals a continuing source of inspiration.
Born on May 28, 1923, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao remains one of the most iconic personalities in Telugu cinema and Andhra Pradesh politics. After achieving immense success in films, he entered politics and founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He later served multiple terms as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Popularly known as NTR, he made significant contributions as an actor, filmmaker, producer, director, editor, and politician. During his illustrious film career, he won three National Film Awards for works including Thodu Dongalu, Seetharama Kalyanam, and Varakatnam. He was also honoured with the then Rashtrapati Awards for acclaimed performances in films like Raju Peda and Lava Kusa. The tribute ceremony once again reflected the Nandamuri family’s efforts to preserve and celebrate NTR’s enduring influence on Telugu cinema, culture, and politics.
