BJP president JP Nadda on Saturday strongly criticised the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, accusing it of mismanagement, corruption, and failure to effectively utilise funds provided by the Centre. Speaking at a public event in Shimla, he emphasized that the state had “no shortage of funds” from the Union government, which had always responded promptly to financial requests.

Nadda claimed that thousands of crores had been released for disaster relief, infrastructure, health, and development, but alleged the state government had not delivered results. He said, “From disaster relief to infrastructure, thousands of crores were released. But there has been misuse, mismanagement, and corruption. Projects are incomplete, funds remain unspent, and governance is ad-hoc.”

Highlighting administrative inefficiency, he accused the state of having key institutions non-functional, treasuries closed, and important posts under additional charge, leading to poor coordination within the cabinet. He described the situation as a sharp decline from the past, noting that Himachal Pradesh was once considered one of the best-governed states in the country.

Nadda advocated for a “double-engine government” to ensure better coordination between the Centre and the state, allowing funds to reach the ground and visible development to take place. He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP was committed to reviving development in the state. Calling for political change, he said administrative reforms alone were insufficient and expressed confidence that the people would take responsibility for electing a government capable of delivering progress.
