2024 was a highly successful year for Jewel Changi Airport, marking a significant milestone with record foot traffic and sales since its 2019 opening, even before the Covid-19 pandemic. From January to December 2024, Jewel saw over 80 million visitors, a 10% increase compared to the previous year, and a 5% rise in sales. Notably, sales per square foot also grew by 6% year-on-year.
This strong performance is attributed to the continuous rise in passenger traffic at Changi Airport, with overseas visitors making up over 35% of the total footfall, reflecting a 7% growth from the previous year. Tourists from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia, and the Philippines were the largest contributors.
Jewel now boasts over 260 retail outlets and restaurants, having added 30 new brands in 2024. Noteworthy additions include dining spots like Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck and Treasures Yi Dian Xin, as well as retail brands like Montale Paris and Pop Mart. Additionally, nine international brands launched in Singapore for the first time at Jewel, including F&B brands Hakka Yu, Nai Xue, and Royal Host.
Looking ahead, Jewel plans to introduce nearly 30 more brands in 2025, continuing the trend of flagship store openings, including a new Adidas flagship and a return of the popular Nintendo pop-up store. New sportswear and athleisure brands like Palladium, Salomon, and Wilson Sporting Goods are also set to debut.
On the food front, renowned Parisian-Japanese brand Cafe Kitsune will unveil an updated concept, offering an expanded brunch menu and natural wines. Additionally, Surrey Hills, an Australian grocer and café, is expected to open in 2025, while new eateries like Korean restaurant Bookmagol and local brand SugarBelly, known for mochi doughnuts, will join the lineup. Further details about upcoming openings will be shared closer to their launch dates.
