Jan Suraaj Party Communication Team Member Goes Missing During Train Journey to Patna

A member of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party communication team has gone missing while travelling on a train from Ranchi to Patna, prompting railway police and security personnel to launch a search operation. The missing person has been identified as 31-year-old Devpalik Gupta, a native of Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, Gupta was travelling on the Janshatabdi Express with his colleague Gautam Kumar when he disappeared shortly after the train departed from Ranchi railway station on Monday afternoon.

Gupta reportedly boarded the train at around 2:25 pm. Approximately 10 minutes after departure, he told his colleague that he was going to the pantry car to get something to eat. He did not return, raising concerns among the people travelling with him. Kumar and the other passengers reportedly searched the train, including the pantry car and nearby coaches, but were unable to find him. When the train reached Muri Junction, a complaint was lodged with the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Railway security personnel and local police have since begun efforts to trace Gupta. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from Muri Junction and gathering information about his movements during the journey. Officials have indicated that there is no confirmation that Gupta got off the train at the station.

His mobile phone was reportedly switched off, adding to the difficulties in establishing his whereabouts. Authorities are working to determine what happened after he left his seat and whether he got off the train at another station. Gupta is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in Delhi and was working as a digital communication manager associated with Jan Suraaj Party, the political organisation founded by Prashant Kishor.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, and no confirmed information has emerged about his current location. Police are continuing their investigation, with railway surveillance footage and statements from fellow passengers expected to assist in establishing a timeline of events. The search for Gupta is ongoing, and further details are awaited from the authorities.
