Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra 2026, Anantnag Police have stepped up security arrangements across the district by launching extensive anti-sabotage operations to ensure the pilgrimage remains safe and peaceful for devotees. According to an official release, specialised police teams are carrying out large-scale security checks and area domination exercises along the entire Yatra route stretching from Khanabal to Pahalgam. The operations cover key transit points, lodgement centres, parking zones, vulnerable locations, and other sensitive areas connected to the pilgrimage.

Authorities are using advanced surveillance tools and modern detection equipment to identify and eliminate any possible threats. The security exercise is further being supported by trained sniffer dog squads, bomb detection units, and technical surveillance teams that are thoroughly sanitising the Yatra corridor and nearby regions.

Special attention is also being given to the inspection of vehicles, especially abandoned or unattended ones, to prevent misuse by anti-national elements, the release added. Intensified security checks are underway at railway stations, railway tracks, bridges, culverts, public utility sites, and other important infrastructure within the district. Regular search operations and sanitisation drives are also being conducted to maintain a strong security environment ahead of the annual pilgrimage.

Anantnag Police stated that personnel are working round the clock to ensure strict implementation of all security protocols while continuously reviewing and strengthening preparedness measures for the Yatra. The public has also been urged to stay alert and immediately inform the nearest police unit about any suspicious object, activity, or unattended vehicle. Reaffirming its commitment, Anantnag Police said every effort is being made to ensure a secure, peaceful, and spiritually enriching Amarnath Yatra experience for all pilgrims.
