India has strongly criticised recent airstrikes carried out by Pakistan inside Afghanistan, calling the military action a violation of international law and the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter. The condemnation has intensified scrutiny of Pakistan’s cross-border military operations and their impact on regional stability.

According to reports, Pakistani forces launched strikes targeting suspected militant hideouts across the Afghanistan border. Islamabad has justified the operation by claiming it was aimed at groups responsible for attacks on its security forces, particularly militants linked to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

However, the strikes have drawn criticism from several quarters, with concerns that such unilateral military actions risk escalating tensions in an already volatile region. India warned that violations of sovereignty and cross-border attacks undermine international norms and could further destabilise South Asia.

The Afghan authorities have also accused Pakistan of breaching their territorial integrity and causing civilian casualties during the strikes. Kabul has described the actions as unacceptable and has demanded accountability, further straining already tense relations between the two neighbouring countries.

Analysts say the incident highlights Pakistan’s increasingly difficult security situation along its western border. Years of militant activity and strained relations with the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan have created a complex security challenge for Islamabad.

At the same time, critics argue that Pakistan’s reliance on military responses has often failed to produce lasting solutions. Instead, such operations risk provoking retaliatory attacks and worsening instability along the border region.

The episode has also raised broader concerns about regional security dynamics. With tensions already high due to conflicts in the Middle East and persistent instability in Afghanistan, further escalation between Islamabad and Kabul could have serious implications for the wider region.

Observers warn that unless diplomatic channels are prioritised, continued military confrontations could deepen mistrust and push the region into a prolonged cycle of retaliation and conflict.
