Amid growing controversy over the health of Imran Khan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has alleged that its founder is being covertly transferred from prison to a hospital for medical treatment. The party expressed serious concerns regarding his safety and legal protections. PTI described the reported move as a grave breach of fundamental rights, warning that such actions could jeopardize Khan’s life. In an official statement, the party said it was alarmed by reports suggesting authorities may relocate him for treatment without informing or consulting his family.

The statement emphasized that any medical examination should occur in the presence of Khan’s personal physicians and at least one family member. PTI strongly opposed any secrecy surrounding the former Prime Minister’s health, arguing that withholding information mirrors past patterns and could deliberately endanger his well-being.

Mohsin Naqvi announced that Khan would eventually be moved to a newly constructed jail in Islamabad once it becomes operational within the next two months. According to Naqvi, the new facility will include medical services. Khan is currently detained at Adiala Jail, where he has been held since August 2023 following his conviction in a corruption case. Recent reports claim that his health has significantly deteriorated during his incarceration, including alleged vision loss and extended periods of solitary confinement.

A report prepared by Supreme Court-appointed lawyer Salman Safdar and accessed by NDTV states that Khan has reportedly lost nearly 85 percent of vision in his right eye, allegedly due to delayed medical attention by prison authorities. PTI characterized the treatment of its leader as deliberate, inhumane, and unlawful. The party criticized delays in medical care and called for immediate medical intervention.

Supporters of Khan argue that the developments reinforce longstanding claims that elements within Pakistan’s establishment are using imprisonment as a means to physically and psychologically weaken a popular civilian leader. According to the report, Khan himself stated that he seeks nothing beyond the basic necessities required for survival.
