Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 continues its impressive run at the box office, adding another milestone to the actor’s already remarkable career. The film has crossed the ₹158 crore mark in India within 11 days, officially becoming his sixth highest-grossing film to date. It has now overtaken the lifetime earnings of Kesari (₹155.7 crore) and OMG 2 (₹151.16 crore), reaffirming Akshay's strong box office pull, especially with mass-audience entertainers.

The movie had a strong start, opening at ₹24 crore on day one. This was followed by ₹31 crore on Saturday and ₹32.5 crore on Sunday, finishing its opening weekend with ₹87.5 crore. While weekday numbers were lower, the film maintained steady momentum, ending its first week with ₹127.25 crore. In the second weekend, it bounced back with ₹6 crore on Friday, ₹9.5 crore on Saturday, and ₹11.5 crore on Sunday. By the second Monday, the total collection stood at ₹158.25 crore, according to early estimates. Despite the impressive numbers, it's unlikely that Housefull 5 will surpass 2.0 (₹190.48 crore), Akshay’s fifth-highest grosser.

The primary reason is increasing competition at the box office, with major releases like Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par and Dhanush-Nagarjuna’s Kubera set to release on June 20. These new entries are expected to reduce Housefull 5’s screen count and impact its earnings. Unlike 2.0, a grand sci-fi spectacle backed by Rajinikanth and released during a festive window, Housefull 5 belongs to the comedy genre, which generally sees a shorter theatrical run. Still, the film’s success solidifies Housefull as Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchise. For Akshay Kumar, it’s a much-needed commercial win after a mixed year in 2024 and boosts anticipation for his upcoming films like Bhoot Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, and Jolly LLB 3.
