Armed men reportedly established roadblocks and carried out sudden inspections on two key highways in Balochistan’s Surab and Kech districts on Thursday, according to The Balochistan Post. In Surab, unidentified attackers allegedly blocked the Karachi–Quetta N-25 National Highway. A police convoy that arrived at the scene was said to have come under gunfire, triggering a clash. During the confrontation, an armoured police vehicle was reportedly destroyed in an explosion. One police officer, Khalil Ahmed, was killed in the incident.

In a separate episode in Kech district, gunmen allegedly assaulted a police station located along the Zubaida Jalal Highway near Turbat’s Kalatuk area. Reports indicate that the attackers briefly detained police personnel, seized their weapons, and set the station on fire, damaging the building and destroying surveillance equipment.

The assailants were also reported to have blocked the highway and conducted spot checks for nearly two hours. A Pakistani military convoy later reached the area, leading to another exchange of gunfire, though casualties from that encounter have not been confirmed. No group has officially claimed responsibility for Thursday’s incidents. Authorities have acknowledged the attacks and said search operations are underway in the affected areas.

Separately, in a statement issued on 26 February, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for a string of earlier attacks. The group said it targeted a Pakistani Army checkpost in the Dokhani area of Kulanch, Pasni, on 24 February, claiming five soldiers were killed and several others injured.

The BLF also asserted that it attacked security posts on Gazzi Road in Kharan and along the CPEC route in the Singai area of Dasht, reporting casualties and damage. Additionally, it claimed to have intercepted a vehicle carrying supplies for security forces between Niwano and Gesherdan in Zamuran, seizing food and other materials.
