Gunmen Attack Passenger Bus in Pakistan, Several Civilians Killed

A deadly armed attack on a passenger bus in Pakistan has left several civilians dead and many others injured, raising fresh concerns over security and targeted violence in the country. According to police and eyewitness accounts, armed assailants intercepted the bus while it was travelling through an urban area and opened fire at close range. The attackers reportedly shot the driver first, causing the vehicle to slow down, before boarding the bus and indiscriminately firing at passengers.
The bus was carrying dozens of civilians at the time of the attack. Survivors described scenes of panic and chaos as passengers attempted to flee or take cover. Emergency services rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, where several were reported to be in critical condition. Authorities said the attackers fled the scene shortly after the assault. No group has officially claimed responsibility so far, but initial investigations suggest the possibility of a targeted attack, raising fears of sectarian or extremist motives.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to trace those responsible. Senior officials have condemned the attack and promised swift action against the perpetrators. The incident is among the deadliest assaults on public transport in recent months and highlights ongoing security challenges in Pakistan, particularly regarding attacks on civilians and minority communities. Investigations are ongoing, and officials have said further details will be shared as more information becomes available.
