Google launches a new budget-friendly AI Plus plan in India, offering these features

After its initial launch in September for select regions, Google introduced the Google AI Plus subscription plan in India on December 9. Previously, Google only offered the AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in India, priced at Rs 1,950 and Rs 24,500 per month, respectively. The new AI Plus plan is a more affordable option, available at Rs 399 per month, matching the price of OpenAI’s budget plan, ChatGPT Go, in India. New users can subscribe at an introductory price of Rs 199 per month for the first six months, after which the subscription will likely return to the standard rate.
The Google AI Plus plan provides users with 200GB of storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail, along with access to the Gemini 3 Pro app, including Deep Research, image generation with Nano Banana Pro, and limited video creation via Veo 3.1 Fast. Users can also access Gemini directly within Google Workspace apps such as Docs. Additionally, the plan includes Flow, an AI filmmaking tool for creating cinematic scenes and stories with limited Veo 3.1 access, and Whisk, which enables enhanced image-to-video creation. Subscribers receive 200 monthly AI credits for use across Flow and Whisk, as well as enhanced research and writing tools through NotebookLM, including Audio Overviews and notebooks.
In comparison, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go, initially launched exclusively for Indian users at the same price, offers extended access to GPT-5, image generation, file uploads for working with documents and spreadsheets, advanced data analysis tools like Python, longer memory for more personalized responses, and the ability to manage projects, tasks, and custom GPTs.
Apart from AI Plus, Google also offers AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in India. The AI Pro plan builds on AI Plus, providing elevated access to the Gemini 3 Pro model across the Gemini app, Search, NotebookLM, and developer tools, along with improved capabilities in Flow, Whisk, Jules, and Antigravity. Subscribers also receive upgraded video and image generation features, 1,000 monthly AI credits, Gemini integration in Google apps, and 2TB of cloud storage. The AI Ultra plan, the most expensive option, includes all Pro features while offering top-tier access across the entire Gemini ecosystem, including maximum limits for models, features, and agentic tools.
It unlocks advanced capabilities such as Veo 3.1 video generation, Deep Think, Gemini Agent, and the most powerful versions of Flow, Whisk, NotebookLM, Search, Jules, Code Assist, Antigravity, and Gemini within Google apps. Subscribers also gain access to expanded Google Photos creation tools, early access to Project Mariner, a YouTube Premium individual plan, 25,000 monthly AI credits, and 30TB of cloud storage.
